Description
The first step of this activity is based on a flipped classroom methodology: students will watch a video at home, and they’ll have to take notes. In class, they’ll work in pairs to create a scheme to solve this kind of equation.

Lesson 1:
Duration: 1 h

Step-by-step description:
1. 10 minutes. The teacher will show a short animation describing how to solve linear equations with brackets

2. 25 minutes. Then, students are invited to work in pair to build their own “rules-book” to develop strategies to solve this kind of equations.
3. 20 minutes. Students work on solving equation using their “rules-books”, using the workbook on the website https://intomath.org/solving-equations-with-brackets/
4. The teacher explains homework: exercises from the workbook on the web site.
